Fashion To Your Advantage

It took me a while to write this post. The overwhelming news about the coronavirus and being confined at home makes me rethink the meaning of fashion. It seemed useless when the whole world went into panic mode. I started to look back on my relationship with fashion. It certainly gave me delight dressing up when I felt down, made me strong and in control when I needed to boost my energy. I want to keep sharing my stories about fashion in these difficult times and letting the positive energy shed some light in the darkness.

A few summers ago, I wrote a post about my obsession with polka dots, and how an elegant and Parisian style polka dots dress had transformed my date night. Here again, I revisited this theme with a different approach from the Danish fashion brand Ganni.

This blue dot print blouse and skirt set has been my recent favorite items to wear. The heavy satin material feels very luxurious. The printed top features a subtly gathered neckline, peplum hemline and unexpected adjustable cut-outs with tie fastenings at the back and cuffs. There is a zip in the front which creates a complete different look and feel when you zip it up or zip it down. The mid-length skirt has a stitch detail and two front flap pockets.

Here are a few high neck satin tops that I love at the moment:

As many of my readers know, I used to be a project manager in the corporate firm. At that time, suits and business attire had taken most of the space in my wardrobe. Now working in the creative field, I no longer need to follow the dress code, though sometimes I miss the powered and confident self in my “power dressing”. When I saw this set, I knew immediately this is the style I was looking for. It is feminine, seductive, yet with a contemporary take on whimsy.

Here are my favorite Satin skirts:

Apart from being a trendsetter, one thing I really like about Ganni is their commitment to sustainability. Ganni measures the carbon footprint of every item, and on each you’ll find the Climate Compensated label, showing they’ve covered the cost to make that footprint carbon neutral.

To complete the look, I paired with my Zara transparent bag and Self-Portrait Eliza mules.

What is your story with fashion? Coronavirus may confine us, but we can have more time to explore our passion.  I hope everyone stays healthy and well.
