NYFW 2018 | Power Suit
“Putting on formal clothes makes us feel powerful,” which was exactly how I felt when I wore this suit set to NYFW. The ‘power suit’ has become more than a trend nowadays; it is a movement. A woman in a suit to me shows strength, determination, and fearlessness. Who wouldn’t want to be part of this style movement?!
This suit set is by SUISTUDIO, a brand I didn’t know until this past summer’s family vacation in Berlin. I spotted a SUISTUDIO shop while I was enjoying my ice cream at a small residential-like plaza. I quickly finished my ice cream, excused myself from my family and rushed into the store. I immediately liked all the suits I saw on the mannequins and picked out many items to try on. After almost two and half hours, I happily left the store with two sets of suits, two turtle necks and one jumpsuit.
This suit looks better without buttoning because of its fitting. The pant is high-waisted with wide bottom, which is perfect for me because it makes me look taller. The only challenges I had were to find something more interesting and less traditional to wear inside the suit while also adding a feminine touch. Luckily I found this perfect AKRIS PUNTO ruffle-collar shirt. I just love how it brings the whole outfit together with just enough flair.
My photographer and I happened to run into 3 other NY fashion bloggers who were also taking photos at the Library where we were taking photos. We exchanged Instagram handles, briefly chit-chatted about our experiences at NYFW, what shows we were going next…etc. It is always so nice to see your fellow bloggers work as hard as you are to succeed, which makes you feel that you are not alone! We took a group photo to capture this beautiful moment. Looking forward to seeing our path cross again some day somewhere!
