2020 PFW | Fátima Lopes
Today is a very exciting day for me because I get to finally blog about Paris Fashion Week! Prior to this trip, I had gone to all of the other three fashion weeks out of the BIG FOUR except for Paris, and I am happy to say I finally attended three weeks ago. One of the shows was for the Fatima Lopes Autumn/Winter 2020 collection. Below are some of my favorite looks and moments.
What I loved most about this collections is its diversity in patterns, fabrics, cuts, and designs. There was not one dull moment and every outfit in the collection was exciting to look at! It was very obvious that Lopes had a very strong following which loved and admired her work.
Starting with the two outfits above, I absolutely love the choices of color. The mix between the beige and red is bold yet timeless and the fabrics keep them traditional while the structure and design give a modern vibe. The color blocking was used so tastefully and elegantly, perfect for a brunch or any semi-formal occasion.
When I first saw this outfit, my heart stopped. I was so impressed with how Lopes was able to mix the velvet fabric, which is reminiscent of the 90’s, with the very avant-garde shoulder pads and collar. She beautifully created a hybrid dress and coat look, similar to the idea of a “Robe-Manteau” in french.
The above two looks caught my eye because of their unusual choice of pattern and material. I have never seen a pattern like this in an outfit before but they work very well here. Both of these dresses have a sex appeal and edge that is very appealing, but also a soft feminine touch that is approachable.
Anyone who follows me knows I am OBSESSED with suits and this one was no exception. I love everything about it. The futuristic relaxed structure and texture of the collar is very refreshing when mixed with traditional suit color tones. I look forward to trying this set on soon!
My final favorites are the two outfits above. I really like how Lopes draws the viewer to the left arms with the unique detailing and textures. The pleated shoulder cape attached the a turtle neck piece in the left photo is such an original idea and the beautiful fabric mix used in the right outfit is to-die for.
One of my favorite part of this show was meeting some very kind people. The energy of the whole event was high and positive. Unlike a lot of other shows, everyone here was approachable and had something nice to say about each other. It was the highlight of my Paris Fashion Week trip.
Not to mention how beautiful the venue was, decorated with orchids, white vases, tropical plants, and mirrors everywhere you look. I felt like I was walking into a sparkling jungle. Most fashion shows feel very crammed and dark, but it was very refreshing being at the Fatima Lopes show.
I was so happy to be able to make it to the Fatima Lopes show with my busy fashion week schedule. With the beautiful clothing, great crowd, beautiful venue, and high energy, it was an afternoon to remember. This was my first show of hers and I have to say that I have officially become a fan. I can’t wait for the next fashion week that features Lopes, I want to be there to see what other beautiful clothes she makes.
