MFW 2019 | Emerging Talents

The second show I went to during Milan Fashion Week was the Emerging Talents show, which was also held at the Palazzo Visconti di Modrone where I watched the Merrige by eLsi show.

This show showcased the work of 5 emerging designers. It was exciting and fun for me to watch runway shows that contain multiple designers’ work. You get to see completely different styles, fabric choices & color themes in one sitting, which feels like a fashion feast. The featured five designers are: Gianluca Alibrando, Rendá , Kel Ferey, Becha, Honoria.

All the above photos are my favorites from Gianluca Alibrando’s collection. According to Alibrando, “The New Collection is a rose offered to a Woman who wants to accept the gift of an ideal concept of Grace, Style, Refinement and Politeness… a pinch of Art in everyday life.” Below is a picture of the designer.

The second designer’s brand in the show is Rendá. Camila Arraes is the creator of Rendà. In this production, you will see massive usage of renaissance handmade laces, embroidery, and labyrinth with the intent of rescuing the renaissance lace tradition.

I was absolutely in love with both of the above outfits. The purple dress caught my eye right away with its body-con fit and the lace cutout patterns. The white outfit is just so unique and flattering with its cultural influences.

I have to say I was amazed by the outfit that Arraes wore to her own show, which is shown in the above photo. Not only had she tastefully dressed herself, but her outfit also fit the theme of her collection.

The third designer of the night is Kel Ferey. Below are my favorite pieces of her collection.

I love this bikini set with its metallic color, high-waisted bottom, and cut-outs. I would buy this set in a heart beat if I could.

The brand KF, Kelferey, is eco-sustainable, which uses recyclable and resale cloths. The pieces are unique and custom made. Their goal is to dress with personality and conscience. In above photo, the girl in black is designer Kel ferey. Next is the fourth designer of the night - Becha.

I really like the overall color palette of this collection. It makes sense to me that this SS2020 PEARL VIBE Collection is inspired by the sea, the waves and the summer breeze. Becha is based in Zadar, Croatia. My favorite piece is the left piece in above picture. I love how urban and unique it is and yet still very practical. The below photo is the designer Becha.

Last designer is Renata who is the creator of Honoria. Honoria is named after her grandmother Honoria. She says “My grandmother used to sew to make the house beautiful”. She also highlights the perfectionism and care her grandma places when making the pieces. And you can definitely see that has influenced her a lot in her work.

Below you can see the designer in white. I loved her confident smile and the energy which she gave out.

Leaving Milan, my heart was filled with content and joy. Not only did I truly enjoy both of the shows I attended, but I was also pleasantly surprised by what Milan had to offer as a city with stylish and friendly citizens, care-free ambience, incredible food, and high fashion around every corner. Milan has left me wanting more!
