What could be a better time to look into your hair game? Season is changing from Fall to Winter and we are still in this never-ending COVID situation. Portland like many other cities in the world, has just launched straight lock-down. It is a perfect time to step up your hair game at home!

I have spent all these adults years trying out all different kinds of hair care and styling products. I think now I have finally found a regiment that helps me restore a healthy-looking hair that I have always dreamed about. I am excited to share my findings and secrets with you all.

Let’s start with shampoo. There are probably thousands of shampoo or conditioner choices out there. Different shampoo aims for different goals. My personal favorite brand is Kerastase, which is a French luxury hair care line. Kérastase is part of the L'Oréal Professional Products Division. Karastase shampoo has many different kinds. My hair is damaged from many color treatments and perm treatments and has split ends, which is why I choose Resistance Shampoo for Damaged Hair. They also have Discipline Sulfate Free Smoothing Shampoo, Densifique Bodifying Shampoo, Nutritive Shampoo for Dry Hair..etc.

I have linked a few of their shampoo products here for you to choose one that focuses on the benefits you would like to achieve for your hair:

For conditioner, you can definitely use the matching conditioner with the Kerastase’s shampoo you choose, which is also my go-to. However, I also LOVE this Italian brand - OI Conditioner. I love it because it gives my hair extraordinary softness, shine and body and it is ideal for all kinds of hair. It is also known for accelerating the drying process and also protects the structure of the hair from damage caused by the heat of blow dryers and straighteners or by mechanical stress. Price is very reasonable as well.

I generally wash my hair every 2 to 3 days. I used to wash it every day and I have finally amended my routine. Trust me, enough studies have shown washing hair everyday is actually not good for your hair. I am happy that I have found a routine that allows me to not wash my hair everyday, which you are about to find out how. On top of that, I will do once or twice a week of scalp scrub by using OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub. It works for your body too, so it kills two birds with one stone.

I have been doing this hair regiment for about 4 months now, and I am so happy to see that I have finally regained a healthy looking and strong hair. My hair is in better shape than it has ever been!

Most people’s hair care probably only involves shampoo and conditioner , some may do scrub. But, that is still not enough, especially during season change, or if your hair has severe damage from various reasons. A new tip that I have learned from my hair stylist is to apply Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream right after you shower. It is designed for fine-to-medium and extra-long hair, this luxe cream works to calm frizz, add shine and revitalize thirsty locks. This product has raving reviews from many beauty bloggers and celebrities. I have started using it since I colored my hair in May and I absolutely have noticed a difference in my hair. The end is no longer fuzzy and deadly looking and my hair started to shine which I haven’t seen for years! I generally only applies to the end of my hair and you don’t need a lot of it. Regardless your hair is short and long, I think you can benefit from it a big time if you hair is dry , damaged like mine or you use a lot of heat hair tools.

So, what is the trick that I mentioned above to keep the hair not oily to last 2 or three days or even longer? DRY SHAMPOO is the answer! Dry shampoo is your best friend and a must for a good-hair day. What dry shampoo does is it absorb oil, buildup, and odor from hair without leaving a dull, chalky residue. It also hydrates and it is color Safe. To style a perfect second or third day hair, dry shampoo is a MUST!

My favorite two brands for dry shampoo is MOROCCANOIL dry shampoo, i generally get dark tones because I am a chinese with dark hair. They have different tones for different hair colors.

I have listed both color tones here for you:

The last tip I have for you guys today is texture spray. There are three ways of creating textures for your hair. One is the old-fashion way that is use comb to back combing your hair, which is very time-consuming and the texture doesn’t really stay; the second way is using heating tool , which I love my VOLOOM classic volumizing tool; the third way, my favorite way, is to use texture spray because it is the easiest way among all and the result is amazing!

My favorite two brands of hair texture spray are Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray & Elaluz Dry Texture Finishing Spray. Oribe, like I have mentioned above, it is an amazing line of products that all professional hair stylist uses and recommends. Elaluz, is a new brand that just launched by one of my inspirational fellow blogger - Camila Coelho. Both products do the job well. Just within a few spray, you will see great volume added to your hair.
