A Classic Swimsuit That Won't Go Out of Style
Summer is in full swing! After a few months’ rain and overcast, it’s now my favorite season in Oregon. I just can’t get enough of the sunny weather, lush green and blue skies, let alone the fun time playing in water.
I was so excited to finally have the chance to take out this classic one-piece swimsuit gifted by Becca Swim last year to use. And the catch is instead of swimming in a swimming pool, I am “swimming” in a windy grassland, thanks to COVID!
I very much like its classic one-piece design and the retro look square neckline. It is made of thick and stretchy nylon fabric, which shapes your body really well. The adjustable knot ties on the shoulder and the back are both practical and playful. Because of its minimalist and understated design, in addition to wearing it as a swimsuit, I also like to wear it as a basic bodysuit pairing with jeans or skirts or layer an over-sized blazer over it for a trendy look.
I also want to take this chance to put more emphasis on women's empowerment. I know many women out there are suffering from body shaming that is prevalent in our culture. I, too, am not perfect and sometimes get negative criticism about my body or look. There were times I felt hurt and lost, But then I realized, I shouldn’t let those criticisms get to me. I’m special in my own way just like you are too.
Gradually, I built my strength and felt more and more comfortable in my own skin. If you ever dealt with body image issue because of other people’s judgement, the best thing you can do is to focus on yourself and keep working towards your goals in life. Eventually, you won’t be effected by those hurtful words any more because you are stronger inside. Just like the powerful sunset in the wheat field that finally appeared after the relentless wind, the society will be more and more inclusive if we keep fighting!
Do you have stories to share about how to overcome the body image issue? We’re here to listen and support.
